Home Energy Strategist

As energy prices continue to surge and fluctuate due to tensions in the Middle East and the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict, I set out to determine whether a household can maintain a stable daily life without being affected by such geopolitical risks. With that goal in mind, I have been working to achieve—and verify—100% self-consumption of home-generated energy.

The household’s energy consumption in 2025 is as follows.

Based on my 2025 results, 93% of my household’s electricity consumption was covered through solar generation combined with battery storage. In this blog, I share the background behind our decision to install these systems, the challenges I encountered, and what I see ahead. Achieving 100% energy self‑consumption requires overcoming several hurdles, and I hope my experience offers useful insights for anyone pursuing the same goal.
